Products viewed but not ordered: what to check

Frequent viewing does not mean the purchase decision is complete. Several different factors can explain it.

Check data coverage first

If only some orders use your digital flow, you are not comparing interest with all sales. Orders spoken to a waiter may not appear in the same report. Establish which orders are recorded.

Use the same date range and business or location scope. Repeated views are not unique guests and should not automatically form a conversion-rate denominator.

Does the information support a decision?

Does the photo match the served dish? Does the description explain ingredients and portion size? Is the price visible beside it? Are variants and extra charges clear? Repeat viewing may mean missing information.

Is the product available during service?

Sold-out or time-limited items can attract interest without becoming orders. Check visibility, service hours and stock against real operations. Staff should recognise the same product names guests see.

Test one explanation

Choose a concrete hypothesis such as missing portion information. Add accurate details and observe comparable services. An immediate price cut may not fix an information gap and requires a separate profitability decision.
