Menu analytics: understand product interest

A view is not a sale

Product interest does not mean an order was placed. Menu performance reports help you examine views and product interest. If you use the ordering flow, compare those signals with recorded orders.

If you do not use digital ordering, do not infer sales, revenue or profitability from menu views. Those require separate data.

Start with a question

  • Which categories and products do guests explore?
  • Are photos, descriptions and prices clear on popular items?
  • Does interest change after moving an item up the menu?
  • How do similar weekdays and service periods compare?

Change one thing and watch the result

Record the date range and baseline. Change a photo, description or position, then compare a similar later period. Allow for seasonality, promotions and traffic. Small samples do not justify firm conclusions.
